Stowing the flat tire

Failure to follow steps listed under stowing the tire may result in damage to
the spare tire carrier and loss of the tire, which could result in death or seri-
ous injury.
Stowing the flat/spare tire, jack and tools
Vehicles with back door mounted spare tire
Install the tire and loosely

tighten each nut by hand to
approximately
amount.
Firmly tighten each nut two or

three times in the order shown
in the illustration.
Tightening torque:
90 N•m (9.2 kgf•m, 66 ft•lbf)
Tighten the spare tire lock nut first.
Lock the spare tire lock system

Spare tire lock nut.

Insert the key and cylinder.

Remove the key while hold-

ing the cylinder in place.
Check that the cylinder is locked
securely.
