3.3.2 Program Descrambling Exception

This section describes how to perform an emergency maintenance for program descrambling
exceptions.
Symptom
The scrambled programs fail to be descrambled properly, and no video is outputted.
Issue 02 (2012-12-05)
ASI signal source exception (applicable when the input source is the ASI)
Check the connection of the BNC cable between the IRD6000 and signal source.
Check that the settings for the output source device are correct.
IP signal source exception (applicable when the input source is the IPTV)
Check the connection of the network cable between the IRD6000 and IP signal
source.
Check that the settings for the output source device are correct, and that the source
device is working properly.
Check that the rate of the network port matches that of the switch or router port.
Check that the exception is not caused by damaged cables or loose connectors.
Satellite signal exception (applicable when the input source is the tuner)
The satellite antenna does not point to the satellites: Adjust the antenna direction, and
check the signal amplitude in the menu or test the signals using dedicated frequency
spectrograph.
The tuner's noise figure is high: Change to another tuner with a lower noise figure.
The signal strength is too strong: Apply a signal attenuator to the tuner's output end.
For signal problems irrelevant to the devices, switch to the backup signal source or
contact the program provider for help.
ASI signal source exception (applicable when the input source is the ASI)
Replace the BNC cable and check that the signal output has been improved.
Change to another ASI port and check that the signals can be received properly.
Replace the ASI output source device and make a comparison.
IP signal source exception (applicable when the input source is the IPTV)
Replace the network cable and ensure that its connector is connected properly.
Check the switch's or router's port rate and set the rate of the IRD6000's TS IN/OUT
port to 100 MHz or 1000 MHz accordingly.
NOTE
If the IRD6000's TS IN/OUT port is connected to a gigahertz switch, restart the IRD6000 each time you
connect or remove the network cable to ensure normal communication.
Check that the signal source device's multicast address, port, and protocol are the
same as those of the IRD6000.
