MVA003E User manual and device specification System description This document defines the properties of Micropelt’s battery free thermostatic radiator valve MVA003E. The unit is directly mounted onto the radiator valve bodies (standard valve connection M30x1.5), where it controls the room temperature, based on signals of a central controller. To operate the device, the unit must be paired with a compatible room controller or gateway unit supporting EEP A5-20-01.

MVA003E User manual and device specification recommended. EEP A5-20-01 provide the option to reduce and minimize energy consumption through summer mode (SB bit) and 8 hours radio interval. Anti-freeze protection uses the ambient sensor and becomes active at <6°C. Flashing of the red LEDs in 0.5 second intervals signals a sensor error (short circuit or interruption). In this condition, normal operation is not possible.

MVA003E User manual and device specification Energy harvesting The actuator generates the necessary electrical energy for operation by means of a thermoelectric generator (TEG), which gains electrical energy from the temperature difference between radiator flow and room temperature. During the heating season, excess energy is accumulated in the internal storage for operation in transition periods and summer.

MVA003E User manual and device specification Notes on radio operation Transmission range The radio transmission range is limited by both the distance between transmitter and receiver, and by interference. Indoors, building materials play an important role. Major reflections and signal losses are due to metallic parts, such as reinforcements in walls and metallized foils, which are used on thermal insulation products.
