3. Functional description

Thanks to their compact design, simple installation and splitable core halves, split core current transformers are ideal for use in hard-to-reach and
limited space applications. Anywhere where an interruption of the current path is problematic or a measuring instrument has to be retrofitted, split
core current transformers are the right choice. They convert primary rated currents into secondary, rated currents of 5 A or 1 A, which can be used
by measuring systems. The safe installation of the primary cable or busbar to the current transformer is assured by design and is confirmed by a
clearly audible "click sound". An additional locking mechanism prevents accidental opening of the splitable core halves.

4. Assembly and installation

Ensure a safe working environment during assembly, installation and maintenance work. Disconnect the power supply of the
primary conductor and secure it against unintentional reconnection.
• The installation of the devices is arbitrary.
• To open the split-core current transformer, fi rst remove the securing pin. Then press the push
button. The divisible core halves open with an audible click sound.
• Place the split-core current transformer around the primary conductor and close the split-core
halves by fi rmly pressing them together. An audible click sound confi rms correct mounting.
Please pay attention to the cleanliness of the cut surfaces of the split-core. Avoid hand
contact (welding).
• Secure the split-core halves with the securing pin.
• The mounting of the bushing-type current transformers can either be carried out directly on
the primary conductor by means of fastening screws or on a mounting plate by means of a
fastening bracket. Use the mounting aid supplied.
• Connect now the secondary connections according to the connection diagram. Observe the
marking of the secondary terminals.
