Scanning Takes a Longer Time

❏ Try scanning your original at a lower resolution setting to speed up scanning. See "Selecting the
Scan Resolution" on page 51 for instructions.
❏ Computers with USB 2.0 (high speed) ports can scan faster than those with USB 1.1 ports. If you
are using a USB 2.0 port with your scanner, make sure it meets the system requirements. See
"System Requirements" on page 160 for details.
❏ If you scan using DIGITAL ICE Technology or Show Texture function, scanning takes a longer
time.

You Cannot Scan Film or Slides

❏ Make sure the document mat is removed from the scanner cover. See "Removing the Document
Mat" on page 22 for instructions.
❏ Make sure your film or slides are placed in the film holder correctly and the film holder is properly
positioned on the document table. See "Placing Film or Slides" on page 22 for instructions.
❏ Make sure the Document Type setting (Home Mode) or Film Type settings (Professional Mode)
are set correctly for your film/slide type. See "Scanning in Home Mode" on page 44 or "Scanning in
Professional Mode" on page 46 for instructions.

Scan Quality Problems

The Edges of Your Original Are Not Scanned

❏ If you are scanning in Full Auto Mode, or using thumbnail preview in Home Mode or Professional
Mode, move the document or photo about 6 mm (0.2 inch) away from the horizontal and vertical
edges of the document table to avoid cropping.
