Using the Multi-sheet Bypass Feeder

Use the multi-sheet bypass feeder (MBF) to print transparencies, labels,
envelopes or postcards in addition to making quick runs of paper types
or sizes that are not currently loaded in the paper cassette.
Acceptable print media are plain paper with sizes ranging from 4x6,to
Legal 14", the largest size acceptable, and weighing between 16lb and

50lb/ 60g/m
and 190g/m
The following table summarizes the print media allowed as well as their
stacking height limit.

The height is measured with the stack of sheets laid, without being touched
by hands, on a flat surface.
• Always load only the print media specified in 3-1 Selecting Print
Media to avoid paper jams and print quality problems.
• Do not hit the multi-sheet bypass feeder or rest your hands on it;
otherwise the feeder may be damaged or detached from the printer.
• Remove any curl on postcards, envelopes, and labels before loading
them into the multi-sheet bypass feeder.
• Do not load paper into the multi-sheet bypass feeder during printer
installation. Be sure to wait until the printer's power is turned on and the
printer becomes ready for the first time, then load paper.
