Introduction
This booklet is the service manual for the E3 Series Disklavier sold from 2009.
The E3 Series offers improved operation via its control unit's simple panel design and
superior soft playback, which is made possible through feedback control for full key
stroke motion during playback in conjunction with the key sensors.
Basic operation is possible with the control panel, however the remote control should be
used for regular operation. The unit features an organic light emitting display that offers
large text display for enhanced visibility.
The unit also features 128 MB of built-in flash memory. A floppy disk drive, which was
standard on previous models, is sold separately (UD-FD01).A USB port allows use of
external memory such as USB flash memory, hard disk, etc., besides the optional floppy
disk drive.
An IDC function, which has been available since the introduction of the MK IV, allows
playback of Disklavier Radio, software updates, etc.
Since the focus of this manual is mainly on service information, please refer to the
Owner's Manual, provided separately, for other information regarding subjects such as
handling, etc. Also, we have tried as much as possible to provide a common approach to
service and procedures however, for those sections in which information is insufficient,
please refer to past product manuals.
