WARNING! The more forward that you
adjust your drive wheel, the more
likely your wheelchair will tip over
backward. Always make adjustments
in small increments, and check the
stability of your wheelchair with a
Quantum Rehab Provider or with a
spotter to prevent a tip over. We
recommend that you use anti-tip
tubes until you adapt to the change
and are sure that you are not at risk to
tip over.
To change the drive wheel position:
1. Remove the drive wheel. If your wheelchair is
equipped with a quick-release drive wheel, press
the quick-release button and pull the drive wheel
off. See figure 12. If your wheelchair is equipped
with a bolt-on drive wheel, remove the hubcap,
and then remove the nut and bolt. See figure 13.
2. Pull the drive wheel off of the wheelchair
3. Remove the hardware that fastens the drive wheel
bracket to the frame. See figure 14.
4. Reposition the drive wheel bracket to the desired
position (either A or B).
5. Reinstall the hardware that fastens the drive wheel
bracket to the frame.
6. Reinstall the drive wheel. Make sure that the wheel
axle is snapped securely into the axle bracket or the
hardware is reinstalled and securely tightened,
depending on how your wheelchair is equipped.
NOTE: Make sure that both drive wheels are
adjusted to the same position.
