In UV radiation water treatment appliances, no UV radiation shall be discharged from the

• during cleaning
• during replacement of the UV-C lamp
NOTE This requirement may be met by mechanical construction, or by a switch
energizes the UV-C lamp.
* Compliance is checked by inspection and by the tests of Clause 32.
It shall not be possible to operate the switch, if any, with test probe B of IEC 61032

machine, and in particular the standards defined in NEN-EN-IEC 60335-2-109:2010 and NEN-
EN-IEC 60335-1:2010.

Class I UV radiation water treatment appliances having an enclosure of non-metallic material
shall be constructed so that leakage of liquids does not result in a hazard.
Compliance is checked by the following test.
• A hole is made in the enclosure.
• The appliance is placed in the most unfavourable position that is possible according to the
instructions.
• Water containing approximately 1 % NaCI is poured into the enclosure at a rate of
approximately 100 ml/min, avoiding live parts.
• The accumulating water shall come into contact with earthed metal before reaching live
parts.
