Flying the AONIC

We recommend completing your first flights with your new wing in
calm conditions. This will give you the opportunity to get to know your
glider. Launches and ground handling on a training hill will also help to
familiarise yourself with the paraglider.
Basics | Risers and lines
The AONIC follows the colour coding recommended by the
Para glider Manufacturers Association (PMA):
• The A-lines are red
• C – blue
• Brake lines – orange
• B – yellow
• Stabilo lines – green
For easy identification, we have con-
tinued this colour code on the ris-
ers. The split A-riser is fitted with a
label marked »Ears«. The B-riser is
labelled »B-Stall«. This should assist
you to safely execute these manoeu-
vres.
The AONIC can be delivered with optional Student Risers and
Adjustable Handles.
When ordering the AONIC, there is an alternative choice of less
narrow risers – our popular Student Risers. These are also found
on, for example, our EN A PRION 4 and therefore are common-
ly used in flying schools. They feature wider webbing (20 mm
instead of 12 mm) which make sorting them easier when ground
handling and preparing for launch and they have the same markings

al ways delivered with Adjustable Handles. These are innovative
brake handles that can be individually adjusted to the pilot's hands
and thus facilitate correct gripping. This design was created in
co-operation with the DHV. The Adjustable Handles are also available
separately or in combination with the standard risers of the AONIC.
Instructions for use:
1. decide in advance if you wish to use the handles as conventional
brake handles or, as we recommend, using the adjustment (see
picture for the closed position).
2. For conventional brake handles, open the Velco fastener at the
»R« or »L« tab, pull through the loop and re-attach. To use the
adjustable function, fold the strap, pull the Velcro fastener through
the loop and attach.
3. Now adjust the size of the handle to your hand. Use your normal
flying gloves and hold the handle so that the cam buckle sits inside
the palm. Adjust the size of the handle until you have a good fit;
while making sure you can easily release your hand in the case of
an emergency.
4. Practise this way of using the brakes. The feeling is comparable
to using a half-wrap, but the Adjustable Handle offers the advan-
tage that the braking force is distributed across the hand more
evenly and this generally helps to avoid pressure points.
