Checks after start-up

■ 4.5.
After several hours of operation, perform the following checks:
- voltage and current absorbed by the compressor,
- high and low pressure of the system,
- overheating,
- check again for leaks,
- make sure that the system is generally running smoothly.
Carry out a general inspection of the installation (cleanliness,
unusual noises, etc.),

5 - MAINTENANCE

Do not work on the compressor without protective or preven-
tive measures:
- during operation, the compressor can reach temperatures
in excess of 120°C (248°F)
¾ protect yourself against the heat,
- compressor power supply,
¾ isolate the compressor from its power supply.
- Check that the refrigeration circuit pressure will not present
any risk or hazard during the work (ejection of parts, refrig-
erant, etc.).
Use the appropriate equipment to empty or refill the refrigera-
tion system (recovery machine, goggles, gloves, etc.).
Perform a search for leaks once a year, or according to the
local regulations.
Check the following on a regular basis:
- the safety and control components,
- the condition of the electrical and refrigeration connections
(retightening, oxidation, etc.),
- the operating conditions,
- the compressor fixings on its base,
- the operation of the crankcase heater.

6 - SAFETY

Our compressors are designed to operate at a maximum
ambient temperature of 46°C (115°F).
Do not exceed this temperature.
To optimize the quality of refrigerant in the system, observe
best practice. Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure
for the different operating pressures of the compressor.
If there is a single-walled tube between the water and the
refrigerant (e.g., water evaporator) and a leak occurs through
this wall, refrigerant would leak out and water would get into
the system, creating a vapor effect. Without a safety device,
the compressor will act as a vapor generator and overheating
of the motor will generate a significant increase in pressure.
The disintegration of the insulation (glass bead) around an
electrical power supply terminal of the compressor due
to a physical shock could create a hole through which the
refrigerant and the oil can escape. Upon contact with a
spark, this mixture could ignite. Regardless of the work being
carried out on the refrigeration system, simply positioning
the electrical box cover correctly will protect against this
type of risk.

Installation Instructions | AG Compressors
As the compressor is not equipped with protection in the event
of an external fire, it is recommended that protection is fitted
to protect the installation in order to prevent a fire. Adequate
purging methods and measures to prevent the admissible
limits from being exceeded (see conditions on the PED label)
must also be put in place.
Avoid very corrosive or dusty environments.

7 - WARRANTY

Please see the general terms and conditions of sale for all
information about the compressor warranty.

8 - DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY

The compressors comply with the Low Voltage Directive
2014/35/EU and the Low Pressure Equipment Directive
2014/68/EU.

9 - DECLARATION OF INCORPORATION

Only professional staff are authorized to work on this
compressor. This product is a component designated for
incorporation in a machine within the meaning of European
Directive 2006/42/EU Annex II B.
It is not permitted to put it into operation before the machine
in which it is incorporated is found or declared to be in
conformity with the applicable legislation. To this end, this
product is not itself subject to Directive 2006/42/EU.
In order to continuously improve its products, TECUMSEH
reserves the right to amend these instructions without prior
notice.
