Possible cause
AC power cord is not
connected.
The fuse has blown.
Electrophoresis leads are not
connected to the power supply
or to the electrophoresis unit(s),
or there is a broken circuit in the
electrophoresis cell.
Tape covering the gel foot has
not been removed
Buffer concentrations are too
low.
Buffer volume too low
Current has dropped below the
minimum acceptable level (1
mA).
Output voltage was too high
and the power supply stops the
output.
Ground leak detected during run
Power supply is overheating
Output current was too high,
and the power supply stops the
output.
Power to the power supply was
interrupted during the run.
Troubleshooting
Recommended action
Check AC power cord connections at both
ends.
Replace the fuse (see Appendix E).
Verify connections to the power supply and to
the electrophoresis cell. Then press Restart to
restart the run.
Verify the condition of wires in the
electrophoresis unit. Then press Restart to
restart the run.
Remove tape from the gel foot and re-insert the
gels. Then press Restart to restart the run.
Use correct running buffer concentrations.
Add running buffer so that wells are covered
at all times during electrophoresis. Then press
Restart to restart the run.
Verify voltage settings, cable connections, and
buffer levels, then press Restart to restart the
run.
Verify cable connections.
Verify that the gel and buffers are correct.
Press Restart to restart the run.
Check the electrophoresis system for improper
grounding. Press Restart to restart the run.
Turn off power supply. Check for sufficient air
flow around the power supply fan. After cooling
down, restart the power supply by turning the
power switch on.
If you cannot restart the instrument, turn off
the power, disconnect the power cord from the
outlet, and contact Technical Service.
Verify cable connections and running buffer
