Installation example

Bosch Sicherheitssysteme GmbH
The transmitter and receiver are installed at the installation location by means of screw
connections. There are two holes on each side of the housing for this purpose. The instal-
lation location must be selected in accordance with the "Planning and Installation" guide-
lines, in line with VdS 2311, paragraph 8.2.1.3.
Ferromagnetic materials directly adjacent to the transmission link between the transmit-
ter and receiver may limit the range. Installation in ferromagnetic materials is not permis-
sible.
In order to achieve optimum transmission between the transmitter and receiver when
surface-mounted, a minimum distance of at least 5 mm to the ferromagnetic materials
must be observed. If this distance is not ensured, a check must be carried out on a case-
by-case basis to ensure the transmission range is sufficient.
It is possible to install in aluminum frames without restricting the range. Only surfaces for
head-on transmission must remain clear.
Ensure that the max. lateral installation offset of 3 mm is observed so that there is suffi-
cient functional safety when motion tolerances occur at the installation location.
The optional surface mounting kit is available for surface mounting. Varying transmitter
and receiver levels can be adjusted using the backing plates supplied. The backing plates
must also be used when surface mounting on ferromagnetic surfaces to ensure that a dis-
tance of at least 5 mm to the installation surface is achieved.
Before the receiver is wired, the housing cover must be placed on the connection cable.
During wiring, it must be ensured that the connection points located next to one another
are connected to each other on both sides. These connections can be made via a (4-wire)
glass break sensor tamper loop, for example. Before connecting the detector zone (black
inner wire) on the transmitter side, the top connection between cable 2 and 4 must be
metrologically checked (for example, using a continuity checker or multimeter).
The supplied cable tie is used to relieve the strain of the connection cable on the receiver
side; it is attached to the cable on the inside of the cover.
Both the transmitter and receiver are cast in resin to ensure that protection is in line with
IEC 529, protection class IP 67.
Once it has been screwed in, the receiver must be cast using silicone rubber (type: ELAS-
TOSIL A33 by Wacker Chemie GmbH) because the solder connections on the receiver
protrude from the casting compound to allow detectors to be connected. The feed ope-
nings are then sealed with the gasket provided.
