Stretching out your hands or reclining your body will affect the center of gravity and the balance of your electric wheelchair. If you extend too far (forward, back, left or right) the weight distribution may cause you to fall or tip over.

(see photo 1) The user should also avoid getting on and getting off of the wheelchair from the front and standing on the footrest as this can cause the wheelchair to tip and the user to fall.

    Managing Obstacles You will need to successfully manage and navigate some obstacles in daily operation of your wheelchair. Know the capabilities of your wheelchair as attempting to navigate objects incorrectly can create a dangerous situation. Even small height changes maybe strike the wheel castor and cause the electric wheelchair to tilt or rollover.

    Load Capacity The maximum load of the Freedom Gold D20 electric wheelchair is 264 pounds. When using the chair, the load should not exceed the maximum bearing capacity. The backrest’s load capacity is less than 165 pounds. Do not press or lift the backrest with weights greater then designated.
