Checking reed contact

During the test the coffee
machine must be switched off
and unplugged from the mains!
Procedure:
1
Follow general disassembly stage 1 (see
page 24, only remove the side piece
covering the electronic mainboard).

Remove connector of reed contact from
electronic mainboard.
3
Switch on digital multimeter and set rotary
switch to continuity check.

Insert probe tips at the rear side of the
connector and touch contacts of brown
and orange wires.

Turn hot water/steam lever to the back:
An acoustic signal is audible, otherwise
the reed contact is faulty.

Insert probe tips at the rear side of the
connector and touch contacts of brown
and yellow wires.

Turn steam/hot water lever to the front:
An acoustic signal is audible, otherwise
the reed contact is faulty.

Checking detection of jaw position

During the test the coffee
machine must be switched off
and unplugged from the mains!
Procedure:
1
Follow points 1 to 3 from checking reed
contact procedure.
2
Insert probe tips at the rear side of the
connector and touch contacts of brown
and red wires.
3
Open jaw slowly till an acoustic signal is
audible. Then close jaw slowly till signal
stops.
Refer to page 48 for maximal
opening and closing distances.

Repeat test if necessary.
The reed contact is faulty if
- no signal is audibel during jaw movement,
- the signal sounds after the maximum
distance of 35 mm while opening the jaw,
- the signal ceases before the maximal
distance of 18 mm while closing the jaw.
