What does the "Value" setting for GE RT Parameters (6.1-
1/2/3/4) and Module Parameters (6.4-1/2) mean when it is
assigned to a knob or switch?
If you go to (6.4-1/2) [K RT] - [RTP..4/8], you will see how KARMA
Module Parameters can be assigned to the 8 knobs and 2 switches. You
select a parameter from within a group, and then you can set an overall
Min/Max range out of the default range for that parameter, and then a
Value, and then assign it to a knob/switch. Once it is assigned to a
knob, the value setting represents the center position (12 o'clock) of the
knob. In other words, if you assign "Mix/Transpose" (which has a
default Min/Max of -36/+36), to get "linear behavior" on the knob, you
would set the value to "0". The knob would function as far left = -36,
center = 0, far right = +36. If you only wanted the range of the knob to
be 0~+12, you would set Min/Max to 0/+12, and for linear action, the
value should be +6; therefore far left = 0, far right = +12, center = +6.
With this example, if you leave the value at 0 (for example), the left side
of the knob will do nothing, which is not typically what you want (unless
perhaps you are assigning more than one parameter to a knob, and you
want the left side of the knob to change 1 parameter while the other
remains unchanged, and vice versa).

For switches, it's whackier, but more flexible. The value setting becomes
a "hypothetical" center value that is flip-flopped around by the On/Off
setting of the switch. In other words, to have a switch go from 0 to +12,
you set min/max to 0/+12, and again the value to 6. However, if the
Value is not exactly half of the range (max - min), you can make it jump
between the Min setting and any value within the available range, or the
Max setting and any value within the available range, by varying the
Value Setting. Some examples of switch settings:
