INFORMATION ON USING WOOD FUEL Firewood is a solid fuel and is a precious source of energy. It readily absorbs moisture and consequently when burnt leaves evident traces. Storing the fuel in sheltered, dry and slightly ventilated areas reduces the moisture level and consequently the fouling of the boiler, improving heat output.

ASSEMBLING THE STUBS, THE CASING AND THE DRAUGHT REGISTER - Remove the outlet and return stubs from the cardboard box inside the loading/combustion chamber, and install them - Fit a screw and nut in the holes on the four bottom brackets (1), without tightening them - Insert them in the top of the four slots provided at the bottom of the boiler, and secure them with the nuts.
Page 18
- Fit the top rear panel (8), resting it on the side panels, and secure it with two screws (9) - Apply the rear insulation (10), inserting the edges in the openings at the side and top - Fit the rear panel (11) and fasten it with the six screws (12) supplied - Insert the top centre panel (13) underneath the top rear panel (8) and rest it on the side panels - Tighten the draught register (14) in the housing provided on the boiler body. The index (i) of the register must be in the top position. WARNING • Use specific products to ensure water tightness. - Insert the thermometer (16) in the housing on the front panel (15) and secure it - Partially unwind the capillary tube from the thermometer, insert the sensor in the probe socket (17) and secure it with the fastening spring...

- Hold the cam in position by hand, remove the protector (9) and replace it with the hexagonal rod (10) - Secure the rod (10) by tightening the screw (11) - Tighten the rod (12) into the threaded hole on the door (13) and secure it, using the nut (14), in a horizontal position with the end facing to the right - Remove the hook from the chain (15) and attach it to the rod (12). NOTE Do not attach the chain (15) to the rod (12). IMPORTANT: When assembly has been completed, the installer must apply the TECHNICAL RATING PLATE supplied to the casing, so that it is legible when the appliance is installed (for example, on one of the side panels as shown in the figure).
FILLING AND EMPTYING THE SYSTEM FILLING - Check that any system drain cocks (1) are closed. CENTRAL HEATING - Open the on-off devices (2) in the water circuit and slowly FLOW OUTLET fill until activating the valve/float (3) installed on the open expansion vessel. WARNING • To assist the removal of air from the system, open the vent valves, if featured, with the due precautions.
COMMISSIONING PRELIMINARY CHECKS Before commissioning the appliance, check that: - The on-off devices in the water circuit are open - The water circuit has been vented. - The flues and combustion air intake openings have been developed correctly. To ignite and load the appliance for the first time: - Completely open the flue gas damper (1) (horizontal position) - Set the draught register (2) to 40°C...
Page 23
- Keep the primary air damper (4) completely open until the water temperature in the boiler reaches 40°C, as shown by the thermometer (7) - Close the primary air damper (4) (minimum position), hook the chain (9) to the rod (8) so that the chain is tight - Set the draught register (2) to 60°C and wait for the thermometer (7) to show the set temperature - Check that the primary air damper (4) is closed to the minimum position as determined previously.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Periodical maintenance is a legal requirement and is essential for the safety, efficiency and life of the appliance. It must be performed by qualified personnel at least once a year so as to clean the entire flue gas path: loading/combustion chamber, smokebox and flue. - Before starting the maintenance and/or cleaning operations wait for the boiler to cool down To access the inside of the appliance: - Open the loading door (1).
TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Cause Corrective Action - Clean and check the tightness of the flue gas path - Fumes are escaping into the air - Check that the loading and combustion chamber doors close correctly - Check correct operation and replace - Draught register if necessary There is a smell of fumes.
Page 26
IGNITING THE APPLIANCE The user of a wood-fired boiler must be aware that igniting and loading the boiler is a normal procedure whose frequency depends on the way the appliance is operated. To ignite the appliance: - Open the loading door (6), place small pieces of paper and dry wood on the bottom of the chamber and ignite them - Wait for them to ignite, complete the load, and then close the loading door (6)
SHUTDOWN TEMPORARY SHUTDOWN In the event of temporary absence over the weekend, brief trips, etc. and when the outside temperature is above ZERO, simply clean the flue gas path and remove the ash from the collection chamber. EXTENDED SHUTDOWN If the appliance is not used for an extended period, the following operations must be performed: - Close the on-off cocks in the water system.
INTERNAL CLEANING - Open the loading door (1) - Remove the flue gas damper (2) and the smoke plate (3) - Make sure there are no hot coals underneath the ash - Open the rear smokebox inspection and cleanout door (4) - Clean the walls of the flue gas path and the loading chamber, using suitable equipment and remove/vacuum up the residues - Open the door on the ash collection chamber (5) and the...
