2.1 Series connection

Circuit 1: Simple voltage measurement
Setup information
Install the two resistors and then the jumper as shown in Fig. 2.1. Now connect the moving-coil instrument.
Check the placement on the board again and only then connect the battery.
Experiment
Once the battery is connected, the moving-coil instrument will deflect. What is the scale of the deflection?
If everything is fine, the needle will swing full-scale. As this is a voltage measurement, the voltage of the 9V
battery is indicated. Try connecting a 1.5V AA battery instead of the 9V battery. What is the deflection now?

Components required:
2 x 10 kΩ resistor,
1 x moving-coil instrument,
1 x breadboard, 1 x 9V bat-
tery with clip connector
