Circuit 174: Stabilizer for 1.4 V
Setup information
Install the transistor, the four resistors and the electrolytic capacitor as shown in Fig. 2.174. The six jumper
wires come next. Check the placement on the board again and only then connect the battery.
Experiment
This circuit is used to generate a stabilized output voltage. The 1 kΩ resistor serves as a load at the emitter
terminal of the transistor. You can check the output voltage using a multimeter.
In our circuit, this is about 1.4V. The circuit diagram for this experiment is shown in Chap. 3, Fig. 3.174.
Components required:
1 x 2N3904 transistor,
1 x 100 Ω resistor,
1 x 220 Ω resistor,
2 x 1 kΩ resistors,
1 x 100 μF electrolytic
capacitor, 1 x breadboard,
1 x 9V battery with clip
