4.10 Using the Media Server Feature

Use t he m edia server feat ure t o play files on a com put er or on your t elevision ( using DMA- 2500) .
This sect ion shows you how t he m edia server feat ure works using t he following m edia client s:
• Microsoft ( MS) Windows Media Player
Media Server works wit h Windows Vist a and Windows 7. Make sure your com put er is able t o play
m edia files ( m usic, videos and pict ures) .
• ZyXEL DMA- 2500, a digit al m edia adapt er
You need t o set up t he DMA- 2500 t o work wit h your t elevision ( TV) . Refer t o t he DMA- 2500 Quick
St art Guide for t he correct hardware connect ions.
Before you begin, connect t he USB st orage device cont aining t he m edia files you want t o play t o t he
USB port of your Device.

4.10.1 Configuring the Device

Not e: The Media Server feat ure is enabled by default .
To use your Device as a m edia server, click N e t w or k Se t t in g > H om e N e t w or k in g > M e dia
Se r ve r .
Tutorial: USB Services > Media Server
Check Ena ble M e dia Se r ve r and click Apply. This enables DLNA- com pliant m edia client s t o play
t he video, m usic and im age files in your USB st orage device.
