Troubleshooting the tractor
Engine exhaust is black.
1. Dirty air filter.
2. Choke is closed.
Engine runs, but tractor will not drive.
1. Air trapped in transmission.
2. Transmission release lever in the released position.
3. Drive belt is broken.
4. Drive belt slips.
5. Brake is not fully released.
Tractor drive belt slips.
1. Clutch linkage binding.
2. Pulleys or belt greasy or oily.
3. Belt stretched or worn.
4. Idler pulley pivot bracket frozen in declutched position. 4. Remove idler pulley bracket. Clean and lubricate.
Brake will not hold.
1. Brake is incorrectly adjusted.
2. Internal brake disc on transaxle worn.
Tractor steers hard or handles poorly.
1. Steering linkage is loose.
2. Improper tire inflation.
3. Spindle bearings dry.
