Starting the Engine
NOTICE
• If the engine does not start within 5 seconds, turn the
ignition switch to the
seconds before trying to start the engine again to
recover battery voltage.
• Extended fast idling and revving the engine can
damage the engine, and the exhaust system.
• Do not operate the kickstarter while the engine is
running as engine damage could result. Do not apply
excessive force on the kickstarter.
• Fold up the kickstarter after the kickstarter is returned
to the pedal stop.
Normal Air Temperature 10 - 35ºC
(50 - 95ºF):

Make sure the fuel valve is in the On position.

Turn the ignition switch to the (On) position.

Shift the transmission to Neutral (
indicator comes on).

Pull the choke lever up all the way to fully
ON.

Using the start button
With the throttle slightly open, press the start
button.
Using the kickstarter
Lightly depress the kickstarter until resistance
is felt.
Then let the kickstarter return to the top of its
stroke.
With the throttle slightly open, operate the
kickstarter. Kick from the top of the stroke
through to the bottom with a rapid,
continuous motion.

Immediately after the engine starts, push the
choke lever down to the halfway position.

Warm up the engine by opening and closing
the throttle slightly.

About a quarter minute after the engine
starts, push the choke lever down all the way
to fully OFF.

If idling is unstable, open the throttle slightly.
