battery, then the reading must be realised for the scale indi-
cated with the symbol of battery. The result is given in kg/l,
and the scale is additionally described with the levels of the
charge of the battery. If the boundary falls within the area
described as „GOOD", then the battery does not require
charging; „FAIR" – charging is not necessary, but may be
required soon; „RECHARGE" – charging of the battery is
required.
If the subject of the measurement is a liquid based on pro-
pylene glycol, then the temperature of freezing may be read
out from the scale described as „PROPYLENE".
If the subject of the measurement is liquid based on ethyl
alcohol, then the temperature of freezing may be read out
from the scale described as „ETHYLENE".
If the subject of the measurement is a windscreen washer
liquid, then the temperature of freezing may be read out
from the scale indicated with a windscreen washer symbol.
Calibration of the device
Attention! Calibration must be realised at the ambient tem-
perature of 20°C. Make sure the device has reached the
ambient temperature.
Before each measurement, make sure measurements are
correct. In order to do so use distilled water and realise a
measurement along the aforementioned guidelines. The
boundary of the light and dark areas should coincide with
the line marked as „WATERLINE". Otherwise, it is neces-
sary to adjust the device turning the calibration bolt with the
provided screwdriver.
The correctly calibrated device should permit measure-
ments at an ambient temperature with the range between
-10°C to +50°C.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

The refractometer must be cleaned with a soft cloth. The
optical elements must be cleaned with distilled water and
a soft cloth. Do not use solvents, acids or abrasive main-
tenance agents. Do not submerge the device in any liquid.
Clean the device after each use. Clean the tool thoroughly
before storage. Store the device at a temperature between
-10°C and +50°C and at a relative humidity below 75%. In
case of the device is fogged up inside, it is required to con-
sult a service point of the manufacturer.
