General Preventative Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is extremely important to ensure the long life of your machine and the SCS 660
system. The following preventative maintenance measures should be taken on a regular basis:
Remove the console from the cab when not in use for extended periods of time.
1.
Disconnect the SCS 660 Serial Interface console before jump-starting the vehicle.
2.
Disconnect the SCS 660 Serial Interface console before welding any component of the machine.

Testing Flow Meter/Encoder Cables
Disconnect the cable from the flow sensor.

Note:
If a +5 VDC voltage reading is not present, disconnect the speed sensor cable. If the flow reading
is restored, refer to the Testing Speed Sensor Extension Cables section on page 44 to test the
speed sensor extension cables.
Enter a METER CAL value of 1 and SPREADER CONSTANT value of 0 into the console.

Press the TOTAL VOLUME button.

Place the RATE 1/RATE 2/MAN switch in the MAN position.

Turn the boom switches ON.

Create a short between the ground and signal sockets by inserting a small jumper wire or paper clip into

both sockets simultaneously. Each time contact is made, the TOTAL VOLUME reading should increase in
increments of 1 or more. If the TOTAL VOLUME does not increase:
Remove the section of cable closest to the console.
