2 Functional overview

This section provides information on the features and technical data of Cisco
C880 M5. For information on key characteristics and layout of the System
Board, see "Cisco C880 M5 Administration Guide".

Features

Customer Self Service (CSS)
Customer Self Service (CSS) concept enables you to identify and replace the
affected component yourself in the case of certain error scenarios.
In the CSS concept, you can replace the following components yourself in the
event of an error:
– Hot-plug HDD/SSD modules
– Hot-plug power supply units
For information on replacing these components, see "Cisco C880 M5
Administration Guide".
CSS indicators on the control panel and on the back of Cisco C880 M5 server
provide you with information if a CSS event arises.
System Board
The features of the System Board are described in "Cisco C880 M5
Administration Guide", the setup possibilities are described in "Cisco C880 M5
BIOS Setup Guide".
Hard disk drives
The server can be equipped with eight HDD/SSD modules, eight PCIe SSD SFF
modules, or a mixture of four HDD/SSD and four PCIe SSD SFF. Each module
can accommodate an drive with a 2.5-inch format. The modules are
connected to the SAS/PCIe backplane wirelessly.
This allows HDD/SSD modules or PCIe SSD SFF modules to be plugged in or
pulled out easily.
The hard disk system is designed for SAS with one channel for each hard disk
drive.
If the server has the corresponding RAID configuration, the HDD/SSD modules
