effectedontheNürburgringNordschleife.Themaincriteriawerehandlingandthelaptimes.
5.4.1.VerticalDynamicsManagement
TheEDCfunctionintegratedintheMverticaldynamicplatform(MVDP)controlstheadjustable
dampers.
ThedrivabilitycanbeshiftedtowardtheindividualdrivingdynamicsdirectionviatheEDCbutton
intheMdrivedynamiccontrolswitchonthecenterconsole.Theprogramselectioncanalsobe
preconfiguredintheheadunitHUandselectedusingthecorrespondingM1/M2buttonsonthe
steeringwheel.
AdaptiveMsuspensiononCompetitionmodel(DynamicDamperControl)
TherearenoEDCcontrolvalvesasfamiliarfromtheG01/G02fittedontheoutsideoftheshock
absorbersbutinsteadtypicalM-onlyinternalcontrolvalves.Theshockabsorbershavebeen
developedwiththesupplierZFSachsandthesystemadaptedtotheF97/F98.
TheEDCworkswithinfinitelyvariablevalvesintheabsorbers.Thehydraulicoilflowiscontrolled
viaelectromagneticcontrolvalves.Itisthuspossibletomakeavailablethedampingforceactually
requiredatalltimes.TheinfinitelyvariablecontrolprinciplewasintroducedforthefirsttimeintheE65
andhasconsistentlybeenfurtherdeveloped.
