buttonorviatheM1/M2buttons,thedrivercanswitchbetween"Comfort","Sport"and"Sport+".
HerethecorrespondingcharacteristiccurveisactivatedandinSportdirectionthepowersteering
supportisalsonoticeablywithdrawn.Theprogramselectioncanalsobepreconfiguredinthehead
unitHUandselectedusingtheM1/M2buttonsonthesteeringwheel.

roadsurfaceatthesametime.

5.1.3.Steeringanglesensor
TheinformationonthesteeringangleintheF97/F98isnotrecordedbytheElectronicPowerSteering
(EPS)andnotviaaseparatesensoronthesteeringwheelandinsteadiscomputedbasedonthe
motorpositionangleoftheEPSmotorinrelationtothesteeringwheel.
TheEPSdeliversthepositionoftherackviaFlexRaytotheMDynamicStabilityControl(MDSC).
Duringthisprocess,theEPScalculatestheabsolutepositionoftherackbasedonthecurrentmotor
positionoftheEPSmotorandthenumberofcompleterevolutionsperformedbythemotorstarting
fromthezeroposition(straight-aheaddrivingposition).
Takingthispositionasthestartingpoint,theMDynamicStabilityControl(MDSC)determinesthe
wheel-specificsteeringangleamongotherthingsusingthestoredratioparameters(racktowheel-
specificsteeringangle)andtransmitsthisviaFlexRay.Thiswheel-specificsteeringangleisused
bytheMDynamicStabilityControl(MDSC)amongotherthingsasareferencevariableforinternal
controlfunctions.
IncaseswheretheabsolutevalueisnotavailablefromtheEPS(lossofterminal30,flashprocess),the
absolutevalueisdeterminedthroughinteractionbetweentheMDynamicStabilityControl(MDSC)
andEPSusinganadaptionfunctioninwhichthesteeringwheelisturnedfromendstoptoendstop
(e.g.straight-aheadposition->left->right->straight-aheadposition).
