thetemperatureoftheelectricmotorandthetransmissionoiltemperaturearemonitored.
Thetemperaturethresholdsare:

Controlunit85 °C(185 °F)
•
Electricmotor160°C(320 °F)
•
Oiltemperature190 °C(374°F)
4.3.8.Serviceinformation
•
IftheMGHAScontrolunitisreplaced,coding(activationofavehicle-relatedcharacteristic
curve)andtheninitialcalibrationarenecessary,afterwhichthefaultmemorymustbeerased.
•
AfterthereplacementoftheentireMrearaxledifferentialacalibrationmustbeperformedand
thenthefaultmemorymustbedeleted.
•
Iftheelectricmotor,theelectricmotorandintermediategearingortheoiltemperaturesensor
isreplaced,erasingthefaultmemoryisallthatisrequired.
Thereardifferentialfluidiscurrentlyreplacedat2000 km(1200milerunning-incheck)andevery3rd
engineoilchange.
BecauseofthechangeofclutchplatematerialtoonewithcarboncontentontheF90andF97/F98,
anewdifferentialfluidisused.TheinitialfillingiswithFuchsTitan5037B.
Currentrearaxledifferentialboxoilrecommendationsandcapacitiescanbefoundinthecurrent
documentationoftheBMWworkshopinformationsystems.
If,duetoafault,theMGHASlockfunctionisswitchedofforfails,ablockeddifferentialisautomatically
reopenedasthelockfunctionisnotself-locking.Thedriveriswarned/informedandthefollowing
effectscanbeexpected:
1.Deteriorationoftractionwithdynamicdrivingstyleandlowcoefficientsoffriction,
particularlywithdifferentcoefficientsoffriction,left/right.
2.Possibledeteriorationofstabilityindynamicdrivingsituations.
