Pre cau tions
1. Before performing any type of service or maintenance on this machine, place the VR300 in
the neutral position, set the parking brake, turn the engine off, and remove the ignition key.
2. Block tires to prevent the VR300 from moving.
3. Always use the proper tools to prevent bodily injury and damage to hardware.
4. Never attempt to tow the VR300 without disengaging the drive using the coast lever. Never
attempt to operate the VR300 while the drive is disengaged.
5. Follow the recommended maintenance schedule on page D-2.
WARNING: Engine and hydraulic components can get extremely hot from operation. To
prevent severe burns, do not touch these areas while the engine is running or immediately
after it is turned off. Never operate the VR300 withheat shields or guards removed.
General Maintenance
1. Review Operator's Manual periodically.
2. Keep the VR300 clean.
3. Check all tires for proper inflation. See page D-4.
4. Check that the battery is securely held in place and the terminals are free of corrosion.
Properly clean and lightly lubricate battery terminals with grease.
5. Check all wiring and switches. Look for loose connections and broken or frayed wires.
6. Check headlight. Adjust for best illumination.
7. Check drive belt and drive chain for frays and wear. Replace if necessary. If adjustment is
needed, refer to page D-4 (belt) or D-5 (chain).
8. Test parking brake. If tractor moves freely with minimal parking brake pressure, the brake
needs to be adjusted. See page D-4 for adjustment.
