Appendix D: External Rapid Shutdown
Normally, a StorEdge inverter can be shut down by turning off the Safety Switch.
However, if the inverter is located in a place that is not easily accessible by emergency
responders, an external shutdown switch must be installed. The switch (not supplied by
SolarEdge) is connected to the inverter to shut down the PV system in case of
emergency. Use a switch that plainly indicates whether it is in the off or on position
(NEC 2017, 690.12 (C)).
For connecting an external shutdown switch to the inverter, use a 16-24 AWG/0.2-1.3
2
mm
wires pair, up to 300ft/ 90m long.
