ALTHOUGH THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ALL DIRECT VENT GAS FIREPLACES ARE SIMILAR, EACH SPECIFIC PRODUCT HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE SET-UP AND INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY.

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION The installation must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, or the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1. A manufactured home (USA only) or mobile home OEM installation must conform with the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280 or when such a standard is not applicable, the Standard for Manufactured Home Installations, ANSI/BCSBCS A225.1, or Standard for Gas Equipped Recreational Vehicles and Mobile Housing, CSA Z240.4.
  • Page 6 IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least annually by a professional service person. More frequent cleaning may be required due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, etc. It is imperative that the control compartments, burners and circulating air passageways of the appliance be kept clean.

  • Page 12 CLEARANCES • When selecting non-combustible materials for use in the installation, take note of the material’s propensity to absorb and conduct heat. Materials such as metal, stone, and ceramics may transmit heat more readily than other building materials resulting in undesirable surface temperatures.

  • Page 17 INSTALLATION INFORMATION NON-COMBUSTIBLE CEILING INSTALLATION • The ceiling of the framing cavity for this fireplace must be made from non-combustible, ½” cement board or equivalent. (Not Included) • The standoffs installed on the fireplace are designed to position the non-combustible ceiling board at the correct site.

  • Page 20 VENTING This SÓLAS Gas Fireplace has been tested and listed for installation with 4” X 6 5/8” M&G DuraVent GS/Pro®, Selkirk Direct-Temp®, Security Secure Vent™, AmeriVent Direct™, Metal Fab Direct Vent and ICC EXCELDirect venting components. Although you may use the pipe components (straight pipe, elbows, etc.) from any of the listed manufacturers, you may only use the vent terminations (caps) listed in the chart on the following page.

To access, remove the screen trim assembly. • The fireplace will arrive with the restrictor in the fully open position. To reduce the draft within the fireplace, loosen the wing nut and rotate the dial clockwise until the desired flame appearance is reached.

    FINAL ASSEMBLY GLASS INSTALLATION: GLASS TRIM INSTALLATION: 1. Insert the glass assembly, part # 12357, into the glass frame retainer at the base of the firebox. 4. The left glass trim, part # 12358, is secured using embedded magnets within the trim piece.

  • Page 34 LIGHTING & OPERATION OPERATING YOUR FIREPLACE FOR THE FIRST TIME When operating your new fireplace for the first time, some vapors may be released due to the curing compounds used in the manufacture of the appliance. They may cause a slight odor and could cause the flames to be the full height of the firebox, or even slightly higher, for the first few hours of operation.

    MAINTENANCE ANNUAL MAINTENANCE A qualified service agency should conduct an annual inspection and maintenance of your SÓLAS Gas Fireplace including the overall installation and venting to keep it running safely. The following procedures should be per-formed only by a qualified service person. The gas supply should be turned off and the stove should be completely cool whenever a maintenance procedure is performed.
