you have acquired a highly-accurate and
at the same time sturdy piece of equip-
ment.

In accordance with national regulations,
the seca 874 electronic personal scale is
used primarily in hospitals, doctors' sur-
geries and mobile services. The scale is a

Before using the new scale, please take a little time to read the following safety
instructions.
• Follow the instructions in the instruc-
tions for use.
• Use only the type of battery stated (see
„Changing the batteries" on page 18).
• When using the scale with a mains unit
(option) or solar panel (option), make
sure the arrangement of the power
cable eliminates the risk of tripping or
shunting.

Setting up the scale

The scale is fully assembled when dispatched.
– Remove the packaging and place the
scale on a firm, level surface.

Weight display can be switched between
kilogrammes (kg) and pounds (lbs). Some
models of this scale do not have the unit-
switching feature. Weight is displayed only
in kilograms. Weight is determined within a
few seconds.
A special feature of the seca 874 scale is
the "mother-and-baby" function. This ena-
bles the weight of babies and small chil-
dren to be determined quite easily - in their
mothers' arms.
The maximum load is 200 kg/440 lbs.
• Do not drop the scale or subject it to
violent shocks.
• Do not step on the display as this could
damage it. Step only on the rubberized
area.
• Have repairs carried out only by author-
ised persons.
