3.2.6 Insulating sticks from other manufacturers

Insulating sticks from other manufacturers can also be combined with the operating head.
Suitably rated insulating sticks must be fitted with a universal gear coupling according to IEC/
EN 60832 to accept the operating head (housing with camera and mounted adapter).
Attention:
The user has to decide whether insulating sticks from other manufacturers are suitable for
combination with the operating head.

4. Operation

4.1
The operating head with insulating stick may only be operated by one person.
4.2
A second person is required for operating the smartphone or tablet! This second person must
maintain the required safety distance DV (distance which defines the outer limit of the vicinity
zone according to Table A.1 of EN 60110-1).
4.3
Only contact the handle of the insulating stick (up to the hand guard) when using the operating
head with insulating stick. It is not allowed to contact the area beyond the handle. The hand
guard on the insulating stick and the red ring limit the insulating element of the insulating stick
(see Figure 5).
4.4
In case of installations > 1 kV a.c., the area between the plastic housing (G DIGIK) and the red
ring of the operating head with insulating stick may contact live and earthed parts of the
installation. The entire operating head with insulating stick may contact earthed parts of the
installation (see Figure 5).
4.5
In case of installations < 1 kV a.c., the operating head with handle may contact live and earthed
parts of the installation from the plastic enclosure (G DIGIK) up to the black ring at the handle
(see Figure 3). In this context, it must be ensured that the camera and the camera objective do
not contact live parts and different potentials are not bridged via the conductive camera.
4.6
It is recommended to keep the operating head as far away as possible from live or unearthed
parts of the installation.
