5 Connections
Prior to making or changing any connec-
tions, switch off the C-RAY/310 and the
units to be connected .
Lay all connection cables in such a way
that nobody will trip over them .
5.1 Input signal
For the input signal, three different jacks
are available in the connection panel MIC /
LINE INPUT:
1 × combined XLR / 6 .3 mm jack (6), bal-
anced, mono
1 × 3 .5 mm jack (2), unbalanced, stereo
1 × RCA jack (7), unbalanced, stereo
When multiple jacks are connected at the
same time, the input signals will be mixed .
5.1.1 Microphone
Microphones can only be connected to the
XLR / 6 .3 mm jack . Engage the button LINE /
MIC (1) so that the input is adjusted to the
signal level of the microphone .
5.1.2 Line level signal, mono mode
For a stereo signal source (e . g . CD player),
use the 3 .5 mm jack or the RCA jacks . A
mono signal will be internally created from
the stereo signal .
For the connection of a mono signal
source, any jack can be used . For balanced
connections, however, noise suppression will
be best with the XLR / 6 .3 mm jack . When
making a connection to the combined jack,
disengage the button LINE / MIC (1) .
5.1.3 Line level signal, stereo mode
For the stereo mode, a second C-RAY/ 310
is required . Connect the left stereo channel
of the signal source (e . g . mixer) to the first
C-RAY/ 310 and the right stereo channel to
the second C-RAY/ 310 . The combined jack,
the 3 .5 mm jack or one of the RCA jacks can
be used . When making a connection to the
combined jack, disengage the button LINE /
MIC (1) .
5.2 Feed-through output
To route the input signal to another active
speaker column, for example, connect the
active speaker column to the jack LINE OUT-
PUT (5) . The level of the routed signal will de-
pend on the setting of the control GAIN (8) .
5.3 Column speaker
Use the cable provided to connect the
column speaker to the jack SPEAKER OUT-
PUT (11) .
Insert the speaker plug into the jack and
then turn the plug clockwise until it locks . To
remove the plug, pull back the safety latch
on the plug and turn the plug anti-clock-
wise .
5.4 Power supply
For power supply, use the mains cable sup-
plied to connect the mains jack (14) to a
socket (230 V/ 50 Hz) .

6 Operation

Prior to operation, check the locking screw
of the distance rod and the screws of the
speakers; if necessary, retighten them .
1) To prevent the initial volume from being
too high, set the control GAIN (8) to MIN
before switching on the unit for the first
time . Then switch on the unit with the
POWER switch (12) . The power indicator
ON (4) will light up .
2) Feed a signal to the input; turn up the
controls SUB (9) and SPEAKER (10) slightly
so that the signal is audible .
3) Use the control GAIN to adjust the input
sensitivity in such a way that the overload
indicator CLIP (3) will not light up with
music peaks .
4) Use the control SPEAKER to adjust the
volume desired for the column speaker
and then add the bass content with the
control SUB .
CAUTION Never adjust the speaker sys-
tem to a very high volume .
Permanent high volumes may
damage your hearing!
Your ear will get accustomed to high vol-
umes which do not seem to be that high
after some time . Therefore, do not further
increase a high volume after getting used
to it .
Note: If there is an acoustic feedback when a micro-
phone is used, increase the distance between the
C-RAY/ 310 and the microphone and / or turn back
the control GAIN accordingly .
