    This document describes how to install the ChargePoint Express 250 DC fast charging station. Before you begin, read this Introduction to familiarize yourself with the Express 250 and to ensure that you have all the components and tools needed for a successful installation.

    Concrete Installation Pad The Express 250 is installed on a concrete pad. Details on how to prepare this pad are described in the Express 250 Site Preparation Guide (Part Number 73-001264-01). Before installing the Express 250, ensure that the concrete installation pad is properly prepared and the concrete is fully cured.

    • The cellular coverage at the installation site is consistently strong. The Express 250 communicates with ChargePoint using the cellular network. A consistently strong cellular signal is needed before installers can activate the station. Use a cellular signal detection device (such as a Squid ) to ensure the signal is -90 dBm or better.

    Remove the two wooden braces that secure the Express 250 in the crate. Step 3 These braces are labeled “Upper Front” and “Lower Front.” Using two people, one on each side of the Express 250, slowly roll it out of the crate, then Step 4 lock the wheels on the dolly.

    Step 1 described in the Express 250 Site Preparation Guide. The terminal block on the Express 250 accepts 2 AWG wires only. If Important: using a larger gauge wire to accommodate a long run, reduce the wire size at the disconnect.

  • Page 21 Tilt the narrow end of the cover under the side panel, as shown. • Slide the tabs near the bottom of the cover into the slots on the Express 250. You may need to squeeze the sides of the wiring cover as you guide these tabs into the slots.

    ChargePoint Express 250 Lift the Touchscreen Rotate the knobs counter- Step 1 clockwise to loosen the touchscreen. Lift the touchscreen upward to Step 2 release its bottom edge, then tilt it toward you at a 45 angle. Rotate the knobs clock-wise to re- Step 3 tighten.

    Carefully move the charging cables/connectors out of the power module tray and out of Step 1 the way. At the bottom right of the Express 250, press and Step 2 hold the yellow release latch while pulling the power module tray out completely.
  • Page 24 ChargePoint Express 250 Using two people, lift the power module by its handles on the top, and gently slide the Step 4 power module into its holder. As shown, the power module’s connectors must face outward. Install the rear power module first. If the installation consists of only one power module, it must be installed in the rear holder.

    Connect the left extrusion’s grounding wire to the Step 1 grounding hole near the top of the Express 250 using a supplied M5 screw. Slightly tilt the left extrusion and slide the top edge of the extrusion under the edge of the Step 2 area light bar.

    Connect the Right Extrusion’s Cable Holsters Connect the long grounding wire on the right extrusion to the grounding hole located near Step 1 the top of the Express 250 using a supplied M5 screw. Connect the short cable to the top holster. Step 2 Connect the longer cable to the bottom holster.

    Installing the Express 250 Install the Right Extrusion Slightly tilt the right extrusion and slide the top edge of the extrusion under the edge of Step 1 the area light bar. Align the holes in the extrusion with the guide pins on each side of the Express 250’s frame.

    Removing the CPE200 Adapter If you are installing an Express 250 to replace an existing CPE200, you will need to remove the CPE200 by reversing the instructions provided in the CPE200 Installation Guide. You will also need to uninstall the CPE200 adapter as described in this appendix.
