5.3. Changing the water collecting tank

Enclosed in the PreLine filter system package
supplied is a special wrench used to loosen
and retighten the tank.
 Switch off the engine.
 Drain the water from the water collecting
tank (refer to Chapter 5.2).
Place a collecting vessel under the
filter before starting work on it and
dispose of any fuel collects
according to the applicable
regulations.
 Disassemble the tank (Pos.1, Fig. 5)
using the assembly tools inside the
packaging of the new tank.
When doing so, hold the filter so
that it does not detach from the filter
head.
 Dispose of the tank according to the
locally applicable regulations.
 Lubricate the seal (Pos.2, Fig. 5) on the
new water collecting tank with a few
drops of oil.
 Open the water collecting tank plug by
hand.
 Fit the special wrench to the torque
wrench, and tighten the water collecting
tank at 20 Nm.
While doing so, hold the filter so
that it is not tightened further.
 Ensure that the water drain plug is
closed (also refer to Fig. 4).
 Start the engine.
If the bowl alone is changed, pay
attention to the venting information
in Point 4 (refer to Page 6).
 Check the sealing quality.

5.4. Changing the filter

Before disassembling the old filter,
unpack the new filter and check that
it is complete and shows no signs of
transport damage. Only install
undamaged filters.
Place a collecting vessel under the
filter before starting work on it and
dispose of any fuel collects
according to the applicable
regulations.
 Switch off the engine.
 Disassemble the old filter. The old filter
may be stuck to the filter head. Loosen it
using an appropriate tool.
 If the water collecting tank is to be
reused, screw it off (refer to Chapter 5.3)
and check for signs of damage.
Lubricate the new O-ring (enclosed with
the new filter) lightly with a few drops of
oil (Pos. 2, Fig. 5).
 Screw the water collecting tank on the
new filter (refer to Chapter 5.3)
 Dispose of the old filter according to the
locally applicable regulations.
