Chapter 4: Chassis fundamentals

Use the information in this chapter to familiarize yourself with the Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330
(AG2330) chassis.

Advanced Gateway 2330 chassis

The Avaya Advanced Gateway 2330 (AG2330) is a modular, processor-based voice gateway
platform designed to be used as customer premises equipment (CPE). The AG2330 provides
voice capabilities for branch offices. It provides integrated LAN, security, and VoIP features in
a low cost end router product. The AG2330 supports voice interface connections in the form
of interchangeable network modules.
The AG2330 has three external slots for small interface modules. The AG2330 supports Small
Modules for the following interfaces: T1/E1, ISDN BRI (S/T and U), FXS, and FXO.

The chassis is equipped with a single internal power supply. A 12VDC plug is provided for an
optional Avaya approved external redundant power supply.
When an external power supply is present, AG2330 uses power-sharing diodes to provide an
uninterrupted power supply, and uses switching voltage regulators to generate the internal
supply voltage required to fulfill power requirements for all components.
The AG2330 chassis is one rack unit high (1.75 inches [in.]; 4.45 centimeters [cm]). You can
mount the AG2330 in a 19-in. (48.26 cm) equipment rack, and use the rack mounting brackets
to secure the AG2330 to the rack. You can also mount the chassis in under-desk or wall
mountings.
