Configure for use with the PPT 2700/PPT2800
Terminal
The cradle can be used to synchronize the PPT 2700/PPT2800
using either Active Sync. Active Sync only allows one terminal to
connect to a host at a time. eConnect is a required control panel
applet that is installed in the terminal, and allows Active Sync or
any custom synchronization application to be launched when the
terminal is inserted into the cradle. eConnect can also be set up to
start a TCP/IP connection with the cradle, allowing any IP-based
application to communicate through the cradle.
When the PPT 2700/PPT2800 terminals are inserted in the cradle,
the cradle appears to be a direct-connect PPP service.
The cradle must be properly configured for use with the PPT 2700/
PPT2800 terminal. The configuration steps include:

Configuring the CRD2700-4200E cradle for the PPT 2700/
PPT2800
•
PPT 2700/PPT2800 Terminal Configuration (refer to the PPT
2700/PPT2800 PRGs)
•
Configuring the host PC for the CRD2700-4200E cradle and
for the PPT 2700/PPT2800 (refer to the PPT 2700/PPT2800
PRGs).
The ActiveSync Process
Prior to performing ActiveSync confirm that:
•
CRD2700-4200E is properly connected/configured
•
ActiveSync Service has been installed on the host PC with
network mode enabled
•
The terminal has been ActiveSync'd with the host PC at least
once using a directly connected serial cradle
•
eConnect is installed and configured on the terminal
