    Parts and hardware The parts and hardware listed below are only for installing the misting system on a Yellow Jacket with a portable base mount. For a list of column mount parts and hardware, see p. 6. For a complete list of fan parts and hardware, see the Yellow Jacket Installation Guide.

    1. Assemble fan In the complete Yellow Jacket Installation Guide, follow the steps under “Mounting Method: Portable Base” to assemble the portable fan base. Ensure all bolts are secure before proceeding.

    5. Remove oil plug Remove all screws from the sides of the misting pump enclosure. Lift the enclosure to reveal the motor. Remove the oil plug (item #24 in the diagram on p. 18) from the motor, and then reinstall the enclosure on the misting pump.

    8. Install high pressure hose Push one end of the high pressure hose into the push-to-connect fitting on the back of the misting pump as shown. Push the hose into the fitting until you feel it snap into place, and then pull back on the hose to secure it. Push the other end of the hose into the push-to-connect fitting at the bottom of the misting rail assembly.

    Note: All hardware (including angle irons) used to secure the misting pump mounting bracket is customer-supplied. Big Ass Fans cannot provide specific installation details because of the wide variability of mounting surfaces, conditions, and fastening methods. Consult a structural engineer to determine the required hardware.

    5. Remove oil plug Remove all screws from the sides of the misting pump enclosure. Lift the enclosure to reveal the motor. Remove the oil plug (item #24 in the diagram on p. 18) from the motor, and then reinstall the enclosure on the misting pump.

    12. Connect water supply The inlet connector on the misting pump filter accepts a standard garden hose. Screw the hose’s male outlet connector to the filter’s female inlet connector. Secure the hose to the column with appropriate hardware (customer-supplied). Note: Column and exact installation may differ from the illustration below.

    Refer to the diagram below for identification of the parts of the misting pump. To operate the Yellow Jacket Misting System: 1. Plug the fan’s power cord into an outlet on the back of the misting pump. Plug the misting pump’s power cord into an outlet (15A circuit).

    The temperature and quality of the supply water affect the wear on pump parts. Note: In addition to pump maintenance, perform the fan preventive maintenance procedures listed in the complete Yellow Jacket Installation Guide, which is provided with the fan or can be viewed online at www.bigassfans.com.

    Cleaning the misting nozzles Big Ass Fans recommends cleaning the misting nozzles annually to prevent clogs caused by mineral deposits. To clean a misting nozzle: 1. Unscrew and remove the nozzle from the misting rail.

    SERVICE PROCEDURES Perform the following procedures according to the service schedule shown on p. 16. Changing the oil WARNING: Disconnect the fan and misting pump from power before changing the oil! A drain pan and ISO 68 Crankcase Oil Special Formula Premium Grade are required when changing the oil. Refer to the diagram on the previous page for item number identification.

    7. Remove the ceramic plunger (90) and seal washer (98) from the plunger retainer (99). To inspect and reassemble the plunger: Inspect the crankcase oil seal (70) for deterioration or leaks.     4. Check the oil level and for evidence of water in the oil. Ensure the oil is changed regularly. See the service schedule on p. 16. 5. Examine the crankshaft oil seal (11) for drying, cracking, or leaking. If damaged or leaking, contact Big Ass Fans. Servicing the inlet/discharge valve WARNING: Disconnect the fan and misting pump from power before servicing the valve! An M22 wrench and M8 screw are needed to service the valve.

    WARNING: Disconnect the fan and misting pump from power before servicing the seal kit! An M5 allen wrench and a new seal kit are required to service the seal kit. Contact Big Ass Fans Customer Service for a replacement seal kit. Refer to the parts diagram on p. 18 for item number identification.
