Introduction

1.1

General

This manual describes:

How to subscribe the M166.
Prior to using the M166, it must be subscribed. As the M166 does not have an
Alphanumeric user interface it must be subscribed using the Handset Configurator
and a dedicated USB_Adaptor-to-headset cable.
Please note that it is a dedicated cable. Don't try to use any other similar looking
other cable.
This cable is also a converter from USB to mini jack. This means that you must
install the correct drivers. You can download the driver from the NEC BusinessNet

DECT Handset Configurator menu items
New menu items has been added to the DECT Handset Configurator. These need
some explanation. You will find it in

Backward Compatibility mode
See Chapter 6 Backward Compatibility Mode

How to setup Tyco and Elpas
For accurate location detection, a locator module can be installed in the M166.
Together with beacons, location can be detected. This is described in
Tyco/Elpas Integration.
