Probable Cause
A.
Failed thermostat contacts.
B.
Failed ignitor.
C. Open heater coil in gas valve.
A.
Failed ignitor.
B.
Gas pressure too high.
A.
Ignitor positioned too far from
burner.
B.
Dirt or grease in orifice.
C. Insufficient gas pressure.

Correction
A. Check thermostat contacts C-
BR for continuity or check for
120 VAC at the thermostat
contact BR to neutral. If volt-
age is present or the contact is
closed, check for broken wir-
ing between the thermostat
and ignitor.
B. Check the ignitor for continuity
or bench test ignitor. If no con-
tinuity is indicated or if the ig-
nitor does not glow when
bench tested, replace ignitor.
If the ignitor glows when bench
tested or indicates continuity,
check for broken wiring be-
tween the ignitor and gas
valve.
C. Check gas valve heater coil for
continuity. If the heater coil is
open, replace gas valve. If
continuity is indicated, check
for broken wiring between the
gas valve and thermostat.
A. Check ignitor current draw.
Replace ignitor if it fails test.
B. Check for correct gas pres-
sure. Natural gas pressure
should be 5" WCP and LP gas
pressure should be 10" WCP.
A. Reposition ignitor closer to
bake/broil burner.
B. Clean orifice.
C. Check for correct gas pres-
sure. Natural gas pressure
should be 5" WCP and LP gas
pressure should be 10" WCP.
