cleaner

mm), adjusted
with

NOTE:
Do
not
attempt
to remove
carbon
from
arc
dry the
spark plug by
burning.

spark
plugs
with
improper
heal
range.

1. Remove the point and
generator covers.
2.
Open
the contact
breaker
points
<D
with
finger
or small
scr
ew
driver
blade
and
check
for
pitting.
If
pitted
or
burned,
th
e
points
shoul
d be r
eplace
d
and the
co
ndenser
checked.
A
gray
discoloration
is
normal
and can
be
r
e-
moved with
a
point
fil
e.
Filing
should
be done
carefu lly
and
kep
t
to a mini-
mum.
Clean
th
e
point contacts
after
fi
l
ing with a clean
piece
of
unwaxed
paper
such
as
a
business
card
or
chemica
l
point
cleaner.
3.
Rotate
th
e
generator
rotor
in
the
counterclockwise direction
(see
arrow)
to
find the
poi
nt where
each
breaker
point gap
is
at maximum and check
using a
clearance
gauge.
4.
The standard
gap
is
0.012-0.016 in.
(0.3-0.4
mm).
5.
When
adjustment
is necessary, loosen
the
contact
breaker
plate
locking
screws
®and move
the contact breaker
plate
to achieve the
correct
gap.
Whe
n
pro-
perly
gapped,
retighten
the lock
ing
scr
