Prerequisites
1. Remove the
optical drive
(optional).
2. Remove the
base
cover.
Procedure
1. Loosen the two captive screws that secure the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield and solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the
palm rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE:
solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield is available only on computers shipped with NVMe solid-state
drive/Intel Optane. In computers shipped with mSATA solid-state drive/Intel Optane, remove the screw (M2x2.2)
that secures the solid-state drive/Intel Optane to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
2. Lift the solid-state drive shield/Intel Optane shield off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
3. Slide and remove the solid-state drive/Intel Optane from the solid-state drive/Intel Optane slot.
