EonStor DS S12/S16/S24 Series Hardware Manual
is used for accessing the controller-embedded configuration utility on a
management computer that allows you to configure and monitor your array and
upgrade firmware over a VT-100 terminal emulation program running on a
management computer. For dual-controller models, a serial Y-cable is included in
the package. For single-controller models, the serial cable is user-supplied.
 Ethernet management port: The controller modules come with an Ethernet port
for local/remote management over network. When operating in dual-active mode,
system configuration is handled by one of the controllers. In the event one
controller fails, the Ethernet port on the surviving controller inherits the configured
IP and continues the monitoring or configuration service. Shielded cables must be
used to protect against emissions. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to
a LAN hub port of the local network.
 LED indicators: Each controller board rear panel comes with six LED indicators
that indicate the system's key operational statuses. Please refer to 4.3 Controller
LED for information on how to monitor your subsystem using these LED
indicators.
 Restore Default button & LED: Pressing and holding the button down while
powering on the subsystem will restore firmware default settings. For more
information on this function, see 4.6 Restoring Default System Settings.
 DIMM modules: Each controller module comes with a pre-installed DDRII RAM
DIMM module. The DIMM module can be upgraded up to 4GB. The DIMM socket
is located within the controller canister. Please see Chapter 5 for details
upgrading/replacing DIMM modules.
