ROTO-JET PUMP DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY RO III 3x2 / ROH III 3 x 2 1. GENERAL 1.1. Introduction This manual has been prepared to assist you in understanding the construction and the correct methods of disassembly and assembly for your new Roto-Jet pump. The Roto-Jet pump is the simplest and most reliable high pressure pumping device ever invented.
1.3. Pump Identification Roto-Jet pumps are designated by a series of letters and numbers, such as ROA- S484. The first group, ROA, is an indication of the basic mechanical configuration and the second group, S484, designates the pick-up tube size. The pump nameplate gives both the pump model designation and the pump serial number.
2.3. Disassembly/Assembly Stands CAUTION When lifting the pump into the vertical position with or without the assembly stand a swivel hoist ring shall be used in place of the lifting eye bolt. RO/ROH 3x2...

2.7. Cautions The following precautions are recommended to insure continued satisfactory operation of unit after reassemble. 2.7.1. Do not re-use o-rings on components during reassembly as they lose their seal integrity and may leak. 2.7.2. When replacing pick up tube, always replace pick up tube capscrews to avoid attachment complications.
Page 21
2.8.1.4. Seals may be changed with pump in horizontal (mounted) position or removed from mount and secured in position in which pump shaft is facing downward. The steps for replacing seal remain the same. However, extreme care must be taken to avoid face damage during handling of pump components in the horizontal position.

2.8.5.10. On 3-1/2" seals install balance sleeve and o-ring simultaneously with seal. On 3-1/4" seals install o-ring and seal. 2.8.5.11. Reassemble per section 2.8.7. 2.8.6. Seal Hub Replacement (Reference Figure 2.4) 2.8.6.1. Remove the 5 set screws (74) and 5 socket head capscrews (72) that attach hub (29) to rotor cover.
2.8.7.7. If pump has been turned vertical, (shaft pointed down) at any time the pedestal cover (18) should be removed and the oil rings (22) be placed on their respective slingers (19 and 20). Remount cover (18) on pedestal. 2.8.7.8. Re-install pump. 2.9.
the rotor cover does not cock, as the o-ring might be damaged. Torque the capscrews to 100 ft. lbs. 2.9.6. Endbell installation (Reference figure 2.4) 2.9.6.1. Install alignment tools (P/N 0600580573) in rotor case (31) for endbell/rotor case alignment. Align endbell so that the 1/2" drain hole is at the bottom.

2.10.4.4. Heat the bearing sleeve (25) to 175°-200°F. Check the temperature and then insert a new rotor bearing into the sleeve. Be sure to place the bearing into the sleeve with the wide shoulder of the outer race against the shoulder of the bearing sleeve also make sure the punch mark is facing upwards on the inter race.

2.10.5.1. Install rotor alignment tool (P/N 0600581220) in bearing retainer (15) to be used as a guide to rotor assembly. 2.10.5.2. Lubricate bearing cap O-ring (52) and place in grove in the bearing cap (14). Install the bearing cap with the drain port down on the pedestal with three hex head capscrews (60) and torque to 104 ft.
2.10.6.5. Place a dial indicator on the rotor cover seat (see Figure 2.10.6) and rotate the assembly by hand. The runout of the seat must be within .001" (.025 mm) T.I.R. 2.10.6.6. Return pump to horizontal position and install shaft sleeve (28). Put the bearing cap slinger (27) in place and install a new self-locking nut (46).
3.1.3.2. Place both spacers of the matched pair of bearing spacers (23) on the thrust bearing. Heat a new radial bearing (13A) to 150-175 degrees F and place it on the shaft against the inner bearing spacer with the wide face of the inner race facing away from the matched pair of bearing spacers (23).
