Support
the
transmission
with
a floor jack. Remove the leaf-spring
center
bolt
and
lower insulator. Dis-
connect the leaf-spring from the
transmi
ssion
extension
housing and
remove
th
e
leaf-spring
and
flat
rubber washer.
3. Disconnect the
support
bracket
from the body
cross
member and re-
move the
support,
upper insulator,
and spring
clip
nut retainer.
4.
Position the upper insulator
and spring clip nut
retainer
in the
support bracket
and
connect the sup-
port bracket to the body
cross
mem-
her.
Make sure
there
is a
minimum
clearance
of 0.20
incb between
tbe
transmission
extension
housing
and
tbe upper insulator.
5.
Position the flat rubber washer
on top
of
the leaf-spring
and
con-
nect the leaf-spring
to
the transmis-
sion extension
housing. Torque the
bolts
to spec ifications.
6. Install the
lower
insulator and
the center bolt. Torque
the
center
bolt
to
specifications. Remove the
transmission
jack.
7. Connect
the
equalizer
lever
bracket.
parking
brake
to
the
support
EXHAUST MANIFOLD
REMOVAL
1.
Remove the air cleaner. Dis-
connect the
muffler
inlet pipe
from
the exhaust manifold
.
2.
Bend the
exhaust
manifold re-
taining
bolt
lock
tabs back and re-
move
the retaining bolts.
Remove the
exhaust
manifold.
INSTAllATION
1.
Place
a new
exhaust manifold
to
muffler
inlet pipe
gasket
over
the
stud
s
of
the ex
haust
man ifold.
2.
Place the
exhaust
manifold
into
posi
tion
on
the
muffler inlet
pipe and
against
the
cylind er
head.
Install
the
exhaust
man
ifold
to
cylinder
head
retaining
bolts
and
tab
washers.
Torq
ue
the
retaining
bolts
to
speci-
fic ati
ons.
Lock
th
e
bolts
by
bending
one
tab
of
the washer
over
a flat on
th
e
boll.
3.
]nstall
the muffler
inlet
pipe to
exhaust
manifold lock washers and
nuts.
Torque
the nuts
to specifica-
tions.
Insta
ll
the
air
clea
ner.
CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Scrape
the
old gasket
material
from the
flanges
of the muffler inlet
pipe and from
the
exhaust
manifold
inlet pipe flange.
Inspec
t the manifold
for
cracks,
leaks, or other
defects that
would
make
it
unfit for further
service.
POSITIVE CRANKCASE
VENTILATION SYSTEM
The regulator
va
lve
used for these
engin

can be
identified by 3
an
-
nul ar
grooves
on
the regul ator
valve
body.
REMOVAL
1. Remove
the crankcase
ventila-
tion
exhaust
tube by
disconnecting
the
exhaust tube from the crankcase
venti
lation
outlet
adapter and from
the regulator
va lve assembly
(Fig.
20).
2. Remove the regulator valve
as-
sembly from the fitting
in the
car-
buretor spacer.
3. Remove the crankca
se
outlet
adapter.
INSTALLATION
1. I
nstall
the
crankcase
outlet
adapter.

outlet adapter

is not loose.
To avoid
restricting
the
ventilation system,
do not install tbe
adapter
into the
cylinder
block more
than
1/2
-inch.
2. Install the regulator valve as-
sembly
in the carburetor
spacer.
3.
Connect
the
exhaust tube
to
the
regulator valve
assembly
and to the
crankcase
ventilation outlet
adapter.
REGULATOR VALVE DISASSEMBLY
Place the large hex end of the
regulator
valve
body in
a
vise.
Re-
move the
connector,
valve,
and
spring.
CLEANING
Clean
the
valve
parts,
tub ing,
and
outlet
ad apter
in clean carburetor
so
lvent and
dry
with compressed
air.
C lean
the rubber hose connections
with a low
volatility petroleum base
so
lvent
and dry with compressed air.
REGULATOR VALVE ASSEMBLY
Position
the
spring
and
valve
inside
the regulator
valve
body
(Fig. 2
1).
Install
the
regulator valve connector.

1. Remove the
