ENGINE TESTS AND ADJUSTMENTS
CAMSHAFT LOBE LIFT
1. Remove the
air
cleaner
and
the
valve
rocker ann
cover.
Slide the rocker arm
assembly
se
rving the camshaft
lobe
to be
checked to one
side.
Secure
it in this
position.
To remove the
rocker
arm
on
either end
of the
shaft,
it will
be
necessary
to remove the retaining pin
and spring
washer
and slide
the
rocker
arm off
the
shaft.
2. Make sure the push rod is in the
tappet
socket.
Install
a
dial indicator

Perform
an
engine compression
test to determine which mechanical
component of
the
engine is
at fault.
Check valve lash adj
ustment.
