PT3E-0220 1. CAUTION ON USAGE The following caution items must be followed to maintain the performance and safety of the instrument. Danger Specification of this instrument is based on a non-explosive structure. Do not use it in a place specified as a hazardous area. Make any solutions for exhaust gas emitted from GAS OUT to avoid harmful gas from emission (e.g.

PT3E-0220 3. STANDARD ACCESSORIES The following parts are standard and optional accessories for the FI-21-SF6. Nipple for the gas sampling point Fix the screw-cutting side to the gas sampling point, and connect a pressure-proof tube end to the coupler joint side. Pressure-proof tube Connect a pressure-proof tube end to the nipple for the gas sampling point, and connect the opposite tube end to GAS IN on the sampling box.
PT3E-0220 4. TUBING STRUCTURE A figure shows tubing structure of FI-21-SF6. A sequence of actions for each case that “SAMPLE GAS – AIR” Switch Cock is turned lengthways and sideways is indicated below. While “SAMPLE GAS – AIR” Switch Cock is turned to sideways, Air (Zero Gas) is supplied from the GAS OUT / AIR IN as long as a pump inside the Measuring Unit works.
PT3E-0220 5. MEASURING PROCEDURES 5-1. Preparations for measuring Apply the power to the instrument. AC adaptor Plug the specific AC adaptor in the 6VDC Interface located left side on the sampling box. Picture: Left side on the sampling box Alkaline batteries Screw Take out the Measuring Unit from the sampling box, and set 4 pcs batteries (Size C) in the battery box located bottom of the...
PT3E-0220 5-4. Apply the sample gas Connect the pressure-proof tube to the GAS IN on the sampling box and apply the sample gas from the sampling point. The sample gas pressure should then be less than 0.7 MPa. Make sure that the pressure regulator on the panel is set 0.1±0.02MPa.
PT3E-0220 6. DISPLAYS AND HOW TO OPERATE 6-1. Initial Displays The initial displays are automatically showed up after the power is turned on. The self-diagnostic display is appeared firstly. If there is no serious error found in the Measuring Unit, the setting confirmation display is then showed up for two seconds and it proceeds to the basic display for measuring mode.
PT3E-0220 6-2. Basic display for Measuring Mode When data is saved, this Battery life symbol appears. Clock (0-24 hour) 24:00 concentration displayed during the measurement. If the SF6 99.8 concentration exceeds 99.9%, the display is to be 99.9%up. SF6 The data No. appears when the in...
PT3E-0220 6-3. Setting Display (Setting Mode) The Setting Mode is for “adjusting the time”, ”adjusting the LCD contrast ” and “reviewing the saved data”. Enter the Setting Mode by pressing MODE key more than 2 seconds after the Power Once the Setting Mode is on, the display shown right appears. 12:00 Move the cursor (black bar) with the ▼▲...
PT3E-0220 Delete the saved data (CLEAR SAVED DATA) This is an item to delete the saved data. Select the “CLEAR SAVED 12:00 DATA” with the▼▲ keys at the display shown right, and press the C A N C E L C...
PT3E-0220 7. MAINTENANCE 7-1. Daily check 1). Check there are any damages on the switches, lamps, display, or body. 2). Check the battery voltage. 3). Check there are no error messages after the Power On. 4). Check the Pressure Regulator is adjustable to be 0.1±0.02MPa while “SAMPLE GAS - AIR” Switch Cock is turned lengthways.
PT3E-0220 8. DISPOSAL OF THE INSTRUMENT There is no harmful material contained in the instrument and its component parts. When the instrument is desired to be disposed, take an appropriate disposal method based on local regulation. 9. TROUBLE SHOOTING The following trouble shootings do not cover all problems, however those that occur most frequently are mentioned to help you to find the causes and the solutions.
PT3E-0220 11. MEASURING PRINCIPLE The refractive index of a mixture gas is determined by the kinds of composing gases and the mixture ratio. As long as the kinds of composing gases are known, the mixture ratio (concentration) is determined by measuring the refractive index. The optical interferometer applied for the FI-21-SF6 displays “Interference Stripes”, which moves proportional to the refractive index, on the CCD.
PT3E-0220 12.
