5 ASSESSING THE RESULTS
Adhesion gauges should be tested at a number of pressure / adhesion values across the their
measurement range - see Section 9 on page 7 for recommended test pressures for Elcometer pull-of f
adhesion gauges.
When comparing the adhesion gauge reading with the Elcometer AVU reading, the user should refer to
the adhesion gauge's accuracy statement. This is usually quoted in the operating instructions or
technical data sheet.
The adhesion gauge can be stated as performing within specification if the Elcometer AVU adhesion
reading is within the stated accuracy of the adhesion gauge. If outside specification, re-calibration is
recommended - contact Elcometer or your local supplier for further information.
The Elcometer AVU can be used to re-certify adhesion gauges if it has a current and valid calibration
certificate, dated within 12 months of test. This provides users with a Calibration Certificate which is
traceable through the certification of the Elcometer AVU unit in accordance with Elcometer 's procedures.
The Elcometer AVU is supplied with a Test Certificate as standard and is also available with an optional
Calibration Certificate. To certify or re-certify the Elcometer AVU, contact Elcometer or your local
supplier.
