Power trim and tilt models
The outboard motor can be tilted up partially
to allow operation in shallow water.

NOTICE
If the engine speed is suddenly in-

creased when the outboard motor is
partially tilted up, the power trim and tilt
unit could be damaged.
Do not tilt the outboard motor up so

that the cooling water inlet on the lower
unit is above the surface of the water
when setting up for and cruising in
shallow water. Otherwise severe dam-
age from overheating can result.
TIP:
F350A, FL350A: When the outboard motor is
partially tilted up for shallow water operation,
the engine speed may be controlled around
2500 r/min. This occurs due to protect the
power trim and tilt unit and does not indicate
a malfunction. For instructions on de-activat-
ing the engine speed control system, see
page 80.

Procedure for power trim and tilt models

Place the control lever in neutral.

Slightly tilt the outboard motor up to the
desired position using the power trim
and tilt switch. WARNING! Using the
power trim and tilt switch on the bot-
tom cowling while the boat is moving
or engine is on could increase the
risk of falling overboard and could
distract the operator, increasing the
risk of collision with another boat or
an obstacle.
